Mission Statement
The mission of Millard's Crossing Historic Village, Inc. is to portray the spirit and ingenuity of pioneer settlement in East Texas.
Mandate Statement
The mandate of Millard's Crossing Historic Village, Inc. is to preserve, exhibit, and interpret the Village's buildings, artifacts, and landscape, as collected by Lera Thomas, to reflect and teach nineteenth- and early twentieth-century settlement history in East Texas.
Statement of Purpose
To accomplish its mission, Millard's Crossing Historic Village, Inc. will:
- document, preserve, and maintain the historic nineteenth-century buildings which have been moved from various sites in Nacogdoches County as well as the replicated structures built on site;
- collect, preserve, and exhibit historic artifacts and documents relating to the pioneer settlement period of East Texas;
- create on-site and traveling educational programs utilizing the site's historic resources to interpret the daily lives of nineteenth- and early-twentieth century East Texans, with an emphasis on rural East Texas;
- develop collaborative programs with other historic and educational organizations to augment and enrich heritage tourism opportunities in East Texas;
- promote the Village as a resource for hosting public and private events which complement the site's historic character; and,
- document and interpret Lera Thomas's role as a pioneer in Texas preservation.
